The bigger you are, the quicker you grow. (Second City Setup)

This setup uses the 2nd city to supply Food to the 1st city. The only time you should have food in your 1st city is when building troops or buildings in which case, you transport it from 2nd city.

City 1 should contain the following:

(Build t3 troops here)

  •     Troops storage
  •     Resource Storage (not food)
  •     5 to 6 Homes (Depends on play style)
  •     14 to 18 Barracks (Depends on play style)
  •     Sage Tower (only build if you will NOT buy a c2 deed)
  •     Tavern (Optional, increases speed between allies and your own cities.)
  •     Forge
  •     Armory
  •     Great Hall
  •     Academy
  •     Vault
  •     Muster Field
  •     Embassy
  •     Stable
  •     Watch Tower

Outside City Resources: (With Level 10 Keep)

  • 1 Farm
  • 19 Ore Vein
  • 1 Quarry
  • 19 Arboretum

Wilds: (With Level 10 Keep)

  • 5 Woods
  • 5 Mountain

City 2 should contain the following:
(Build t1 troops here)

  • FOOD Storage
  •  5 to 6 Homes (Depends on play style)
  • 15 to 19 Barracks (Depends on play style)
  • Tavern (Optional)
  • Forge
  • Armory
  • Great Hall
  • Academy
  • Vault
  • Muster Field
  • Stable
  • Watch Tower (Optional)

Outside City Resources

  • 19 Farms
  • 1 Woods
  • 1 Mountain
  • 19 Hill

Wilds: (With Level 10 Keep)

  • 5 Lake/Grasslands (Food)
  • 5 Hill (Stone)

How do you keep up with the neg food in the first city?

    • story2learn says:

Store all your troops in one city and food in the other. You let the troops starve because there is no troop desertion, so they won’t leave you if they don’t get fed. Only time there needs to be food there is when you’re building or training troops.

What in your opinion is the optimum set up of troops to send to conquer a level 10 wild? I want to minimize losses. Thank you very much for all your guides.

    • story2learn says:

A level 212 hero along with an attack buff will minimize troop loss. For the type of troops, I would use 29992 Militia Men, with 1 of each other troop to make 30k.

      • Burin says:

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I have gotten advice from my vice regent to send a total of 20k T1 troops and 60k of T2 troops. Would you mind explaining to me why you recommend sending 29992 dwarven militia instead of a balanced number of t1 troops? Thank you very much for the help, I greatly appreciate it. Cheers!

      • story2learn says:

The reason for that number 29992 is that there are 9 types of troops, so leaving 8 spaces, you have 1 of each other troop for battle rotation. It’s like a “layer” I have found that this works best and offers the least amount of loss. Depending on your muster field you can send up to 99992 with 1 other troop. Which is what I personally use.

      • Burin says:

That is a very interesting tactic. Thank you very much for the help!

      • Burin says:

I understand that this will greatly differ from me (hero level, research level), but how many losses do you usually endure when attacking a level 10 wild? I apologize for all the questions. This is a very useful site.

      • story2learn says:

I just attacked a lvl 10 wild for you and I lost 2866 t1 troops when using the method I told you.

      • Burin says:

Thank you so much. I would like you to know that I have referred all the members of my alliance to this website as it is extremely useful. Keep up the great work! Those guides are amazing. Cheers!

  3. Burin says:

I apologize for all the questions, but I was curious to know what you think a player should do with their first Hobbit Building Crew? Cheers!

    • story2learn says:

I assume you won it and If you can, invest in a level 212 hero, which you will need a level 10 Great Hall. If you do not want to spend money, then a level 10 academy would be my next choice for level 10 siege weapons, vigor, honed blades and then whatever you want. If you already have that, I personally like sending 100k troops, so a muster field would be a good choice.

What about a plan for a 3rd city?

  5. Bauer says:

Hi I have just won a second city and had built loads of t1’s in my first city do I have to dismiss them?
Also with all the troops you recommend building in the second city do u send them over to reinforce the 1st city to ensure they don’t take the food?
At what point do I start building these troops in the second as I have only just started?
I have wilds from my 1st city which are mostly grasslands etc now realising I will have to abandon them and take with troops from second city?? Am I missing something?
Hope those questions make sense 🙂

  6. Kelsey says:

What do you mean when you say I should have woods, mountains and hills?

  7. Nate says:

What added benefit if any does a level 10 watchtower give?

  8. asdfghjkl says:

How about the neg population? Won’t that happen?

  9. Moshi says:

Hey i just wanted to know what happens when idle population goes minus

  10. Gary theriaque says:

    I am at 211 1580/4200 how do i get to 212?

  11. leo says:

how do i get a big looking city?

  12. Toby says:

Hi couple questions re 2nd city. Why do you recommend keeping troops in firts city? i assume this means you have to demolish your farms in 1st city? could i not reassign Troops to new 2 nd city. Just build barrack s homes etc? And keep 1st city production and rss? Let me know your thoughts please

  13. Anna Dagarin says:

Hey, I recently won a 2nd city deed, and I was wondering… does the method for self sufficient, two-city-playing require that the second city you build hold all of the food? Does it matter which city is set up as “1st city” and “2nd city?”

    • story2learn says:

You most definitely need a city that holds food, and has farms, if you want to be sufficient, especially when you’re growing. If you have great farm cities (cities that you attack) then it doesn’t matter once you’re big enough because you can get food and resources easier.

  14. Arryn says:

I’ve been wanting to add the all-important 2nd city for ages, and today I finally won not one but two 2nd city deeds. Will I be able to use them to build both a 2nd and 3rd city or will I only be able to use one of them?

    • story2learn says:

The second city deed is only going to work for the second city.

      • Ace says:

I recently maxed out food production on my second City and started building a third. If I take all my farms but one away from my first city and store 99% of my troops there will they dessert me with no food if they are reassigned there?

  15. domino says:

why do you need a lv 10 Great hall for a 212 hero? Can’t you just give experience to any hero you want?

  16. Directioner046 says:

How much might do you think I should have before I turn off troop protection? I have around 120,400 with a level 60 Gandalf (my highest) 🙂 Or should I even turn troop protection off?
    Thanks!!

  17. John says:

does this tip still work? what is the downside to this if any?. I have my 2nd city now and thinking of doing the same
